About our instructors:
Pottery instructor: Wendy Gustafson’s interest in pottery goes back to her high school days when she and her father built a potter’s wheel. After years of study she began teaching beginners on the potter’s wheel at Rockleigh Center for the Arts, in New York State. Over the past seven years, she has attended classes and workshops at the Appalachian Center for Craft, studying wheel throwing techniques with Merissa Tobler, glazing with Susan DeMay and Caroline Cercone, and pot altering, and glazing functional salt/soda firing with Mackenzie Smith.
Pottery Instructor: Tommy Williams is a Master Potter who handcrafts our production pieces as well as teaches our home school and adult potter’s wheel classes. Mr. Williams is from North Carolina and has earned his MFA in ceramics from East Tennessee State University. He is nationally known for his burnishing and sagger vessels, and resides in Hendersonville, Tn. with his wife and two twin boys.
Photography Instructor: Michael Gustafson holds a degree in photography, and has worked professionally in commercial and family portraiture for over 20 years. He is also owner of M.G. Photography, president of the Hendersonville photo club, past president of the Professional Photographers of Middle Tennessee, and served several years as an instructor of digital photography at Nossi College of Art.

9/12/12 Theresa and Bryan Furlong wrote: ” Just over 6 years ago, Michael Gustafson photographed the festivities leading up to our wedding and the day of – start to finish. With utmost sincerity I can say that Bryan and I chose the best photogropher to preserve our memories. Maintaining originals, he used what I can only assume were special effects to intensify and bring “awe” factor to the certain images he had captured. Those he suggested for enhancement and larger/canvas prints were the same ones we chose. This confirmed that he truly has not only a gift for photography but also one for embracing our style and who we were. Finances play an instrumental role in the decisions we make. Despite M.G Photography being a leader in TN’s photography industry, fortunately for us we found that his services and rates were financially feesible and competitive. He worked with us, allowing us to obtain a rate that included services within his set packages and several request he fulfilled with immense satisfaction outside of. He truly went above and beyond, travelng 120 miles round trip on several occurances, enabling us to re-live our memories for years. Because of this, I have bern recommending M.G Photography every opportunity that arises. I am confidant that those who choose to weigh my opinion heavily and contact with Michael will be none other than beyond satisfied. Thank you M & W Gustafson, Bryan & Theresa Furlong”.

1/1/17 Jennifer Smithfield wrote: As I am drinking out of one mug and just put another one into the dishwasher, it occurred to me that I should make sure all my local friends know about Wendy Gustafson‘s awesome pottery, especially if you need Christmas present ideas. We own a number of things she’s made—both decorative and functional. We use them all the time so this isn’t pottery that just collects dust or that isn’t durable. Though it’s probably too late for custom orders for Christmas, I love that she has also made a number of custom designs for me over the years, including knitting bowls, salad bowls, and mugs. You can find her pottery at Woodland Gallery in Hendersonville, along with her husband’s amazing photographs and other locally made products. She also teaches classes for adults and kids.
